Rakali. (Folk horror/comedy play.)

Award-winning Tasmanian Gothic three-hander theatre.

A young couple move from Melbourne to live with their infant child on a houseboat in rugged wilderness in Tasmania. They think they’ve found paradise – but life in the sticks is less than idyllic. One night, a rakali (an Australian water rat) climbs aboard their boat and transforms into a human, and sets about convincing the couple that he is trustworthy, in order to steal and eat their baby.

A shriek-out-loud night at the theatre, ‘Rakali’ was originally performed as part of Melbourne Fringe 2023, where it was nominated for Best Theatre, won lead actor Lily Fish the Green Room Award for Best Performer, and went on to be part of the VCE Playlist for Victorian students studying Drama in its return season in 2026.
